Rí Wa Community Organization is a Black-led, disability-led organization reimagining what equity, belonging, and collective liberation can look like when disabled people are centered as leaders, innovators, and changemakers.
Our Mission
To advance disability justice by empowering Black communities through culturally grounded leadership, participatory research, advocacy, education, and community engagement that promotes equity, accessibility, and collective well-being.
Our Vision
A future where Black disabled people are fully recognized as leaders, innovators, and agents of change, shaping inclusive communities and institutions that uphold justice, accessibility, and human dignity for all.
✔ Advocacy and Systems Change:
Working to eliminate barriers and promote policies that advance accessibility, equity, and disability justice.
✔ Capacity Building:
Supporting organizations, institutions, and partners in embedding culturally responsive and disability-inclusive approaches into their work.
✔ Storytelling and Cultural Transformation:
Elevating narratives that challenge stigma, celebrate identity, and inspire more inclusive futures.

Cultivating the next generation of Black disabled leaders equipped to influence systems, organizations, and communities.

Producing community-driven research that informs policy, practice, and public understanding while centering lived experience.

Creating spaces for dialogue, collaboration, mutual support, and collective action that strengthen community resilience.

Rí Wa Community Organization exists to build a world where disability is understood not as a limitation but as a vital dimension of human diversity, and where Black disabled people have the power, resources, and opportunities to shape the decisions that affect their lives. Through collaboration, innovation, and community leadership, we are helping create a future rooted in justice, accessibility, belonging, and collective liberation.
